April 6, 2020
We are entering Easter week. What a week to celebrate and contemplate. April 8th is the Passover Festival; April 10th is Good Friday and April 12th is Easter Sunday. We definitely have a lot to set our focus on this week
We know the story of the children of Israel being in bondage in Egypt for over 420 years. They cried out to God and He raised up a deliverer. When Moses went before Pharaoh to demand he let them go, it began a series of plagues that hit Egypt and stopped at the border of Goshen (where the children of God lived).
Finally, the tenth and final plague came where the first born of every household would be killed and no house would be exempt… except those who had the blood of the Lamb over their doorposts.
Exodus 12 gives us our insight to the Passover Lamb and all the directions that were included with the Passover Lamb.
NOTE: It was more than just smearing the blood over the door posts of their homes.
We will look at several things this week, but first thing first: The Passover lamb was a type of our Passover Lamb! Jesus!
John 1:29 – John the Baptist declared, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Exodus12:5 – “Your lamb shall be without blemish….”
1 Peter 1:19 – “But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
(2 Corinthians 5:21 says He was without sin, but took our sin on the cross!)
The way they roasted the Lamb was to run a wooden stake vertically and horizontally through the Lamb… yes, in the form of a cross. The same shape that Jesus was crucified on… our Lamb!
Exodus12:46b – (Regarding the lamb) “…neither shall ye break a bone thereof.”
John 19:33,36 – Soldiers came to break the legs of Jesus.
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
So many more thing we could list. al the way down to the fact that Jesus was crucified on Passover! At the same time that Passover lambs were being killed.
1 Corinthians 5:7b – “For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:”
NEVER FORGET: Jesus paid it all, all to Him we owe, sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.
